How to Conduct an Effective Interview
Did you ever interview someone who you thought would be a fantastic employee, but he or she didn't turn out that way? Why did that happen?
Answer: It very well could be that your interview process and questions allowed too much guessing rather than asking questions that are better predictors of actual performance on the job.
A recent survey by Development Dimensions International and Monster (February 11, 2008) asked 3,000 job seekers to share the most unusal questions they've been asked. Here is a partial list:
- Who is your favorite Beatle?
- What would you do if I gave you an elephant?
- What is your perception of the painting in our lobby?
- Would you be available from time to time to watch my children?
- Would you be willing to stay overnight with a client if they request it?
- Would you join a church to get a job?
If you ask these questions in your interviews, then you are in need of help. So, let's get you help before your next round of interviews.
The seminar content includes:
- How to prepare for the interview.
- How to develop a structured interview format.
- How to ask four types of interview questions.
- How to ask follow-up questions.
This seminar is highly engaging and will incorporate interview situations that supervisors or managers are involved in at the present.
